Am I out of my slump?

Unfortunately, no. I’m just happy to mark the fact that I had just finished NHK ni Youkoso! very early this morning (like 1-2 AM?), and I also managed to finish Zegapain a few days ago. I don’t know if I can squeeze a review from my brain though, I’m not even inspired that much at work.

Now all that’s left of my 2006 backlog is Mai Otome, Suzumiya Haruhi, and Muteki Kanban M. I find it ironic that I struggle to finish shorter shows like MOSH and Muteki, yet I get to finish Zegapain and NHK. It must really mean that my interest in the two ’short’ shows has never been that high. As for Mai Otome, well, since Mai Hime is one of my all-time top ten favorite shows, it does generate interest. But my impression was that it was inferior, hence the relegation to the backlog. Still I will endeavour to finish everything in January. I promise myself, lol.

And I also hope, next week, I can post something more interesting. Ja!

  • Death Note has been licensed. Perhaps it’s time I dusted off those Nihongo books of mine. On the other hand, I wouldn’t die if I can’t watch DN, right?
  • The new shows have been rather uninteresting, and I haven’t watched anything new yet. Besides, my internet connection is still crappy. Oh wait, there’s Nodame Cantabile and that Kannazuki no Miko-like series! Then I look at my BT client, and I say to myself: forget it for now. Besides, I’ve already read the first two volumes of the Nodame Cantabile manga, and I see no urgency in watching Kyousora blah3x.
  • So what’s fueling me through this broadband drought? I’ve started already on Monster, restarted on Mobile Suit Gundam, and still wavering on my 2006 series backlog. I can’t seem to finish one Zegapain episode in one sitting, can’t watch Muteki continously, and I have trouble scheduling NHK.
  • I also got colds, which graduated to annoying coughs, so aside from lost work hours, there were also lost anime viewing time lol. (I’m feeling better now, that’s why I have the energy to post this one.)
  • I’m dropping Night Head Genesis. I see no more ‘benefits’ if I continue watching this show.

I’ll try to see if I can post something next week. I’m supposed to be in Hataraki Mode, but work will always be there I suppose. Ja!

Happy New Year everyone!

I found making this list quite difficult…The top five was easy, but listing the rest was quite a recall exercise lol. There were shows I thought didn’t belong in 2006 but did–so I had to do some research. This is my punishment for watching too many shows. I also didn’t bother to look up my ratings on the shows I wrote a review on, as I didn’t give some shows ratings. Another thing is that I decided to include the good shows but still haven’t finished. They are just inserted where they might have been ranked had they ended. As for my unfinished backlog they’ll just get inserted whenever I finish them. Now on to the list.

Yes, it’s another round of show-dropping excitement(??), done in part to save the time and sanity of this blogger. So what show/s gets dropped this time around?

Asatte no Houko

Whatever the spelling, I don’t mind anymore. The thing is, I find that I’m no longer interested in knowing more about the lolis characters in this show. I just don’t care what happens to the people–how things will turn out in the end, what happens to this and that. Although I liked Shoko a little, if it’s too painful just getting myself to watch this show, then I should stop wasting my time. But no, I’m not saying this series is crap. Now it actually reminds me of Tom Hanks’ Big; although the movie is better, the anime’s story is nice. But even then I still got bored of it. I particularly dislike Karada and her onii-chan. Why? I have no idea either.

Bartender

The playback problem actually stopped me from watching this show earlier. Unlike Asatte no Houko, where I got to the fifth pisode, I was only able to watch the first one of this show. I don’t know why, but the show doesn’t click with me. Now the episodes left in my HD will take the trip to the recycle bin.

Pumpkin Scissors

Perhaps I should have taken the hint of my dislike for the main female character of this show. I was actually hoping for some ramatic dramatic happening to surprise me in this one a la FMA. Alas, this is a feel-goody show, no real drama to make me symphatize, and my hope of seeing great anti-tank action and gore are dashed. I will stick with Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge, at least Sunako’s antics entertain me more, and there’s more bloodshed care of Sunako’s nosebleeds LOL. (But don’t get impression I like gory stuff; I absolutely dislike horror and the like.)

********************

In my last post I mentioned Mecha Week. Well, it ain’t happening, because I was able to finish my backlog of Innocent Venus and Eureka 7 in a span of 24 hours. I blame it on my cancelled trip to the land of tarsiers. So with nothing to do, what’s the natural thing to do? Watch anime of course.

Also, I’ll be picking up shows I dropped before, namely Muteki Kanban Musume, Zero no Tsukaima, and NHK ni Youkoso. I might also get back to watching Zegapain, if I finish Muteki and ZnT quickly.

Till the next edition of Axed, ja!

And yay, 30 thousand hits care of spammers readers! I’m glad you all visited this blog of mine. :-)

I’m dropping some shows.

  • Utawarerumono

I have been scanning some episode summaries of this one and although it looks interesting, since I’m so far behind now I’d rather wait for it to finish and then read the final reviews. Then maybe I’ll get the batch release, if the ending is good.
