This anime actually reminds me of Sosei no Aquarion except that the mech battles suck. They are so random and the Orochi pilots so incompetent and laughable, except for Souma’s brother. It is no wonder then that Orochi (the evil guy) is defeated by our priestesses (Himeko and Chikane) in their past lives.
But what’s good to watch here is the love triangle between Souma, Himeko, and Chikane. So Chikane initially loses out to the guy (Souma), and her anguish is really interesting to watch. On the other hand, Souma and Himeko are the standard childhood friends, and Souma has this advantage over Chikane (aside from the fact that he’s a guy and Chikane is a girl).
However, what’s even better is the ending. There is a nice twist on why Chikane turned evil (oops spoiler!). I also liked the parting between Himeko and Chikane, except that Chikane talks too much for a mortally wounded person. And yuri fans might really like the ending at the end lol.
Overall, a watchable show (but not watchable for kids, really).
- Animation at 0.50.
- Characters at 0.75. Incompetent evildoers = no-brainer triumph of good.
- Music at 0.50.
- Story/Plot/Dialogue at 1. I didn’t get bored so I guess this anime passes.
- Entertainment value at .75. The mech battles were a big minus.
