The aftermath of the incidents of the previous episode are shown. Shinji, however, has been assimilated into the Eva, the result of more than 100% synchronization. And Ritsuko gets slap number two from Misato. Which is what Misato can only do since Ritsuko can only tell her little about the true nature of the Evas.
And then it’s round 2 of ‘Getting High Inside the Eva’. Only it’s an extended version. A month inside an Eva is quite long, and conveniently no Angel comes. However I can’t decide if it was Shinji or the Eva who generated those ‘Do you want to join with me?’ scenes. I can only say that the hallucination sequences would be what sets apart Evangelion from other mecha shows. This would be one of the things I’ll remember Evangelion for.
However, I’m baffled. Was he really remembering his parents conversations while he was still in his mother’s womb? Is that really possible with the Eva?

Vallen Chaos Valiant, I have a question for you. Considering that Shinji was like 4 or 5 or whatever when that first incident happened regarding the pilot being absorbed, shouldn’t Rei be younger? Do you get what I’m saying?

How old is Rei suppose to be, and how reliable/trustworthy is that information?
You need to keep in mind, that misinformation is very much a part of the show. Truth is hard to come by in NERV.

As a consolation, let me remind you of an earlier conversation Maya had with Ritsuko concerning the dummy-plug; Maya considered it unethical/immoral.
Think of what a dummy-plug is suppose to do, and with its very name, you might figure out its secret…
From what I’ve seen so far it’s supposed to mimic a pilot and then trick the Eva that somebody is piloting it.
