Macross Delta Love Chart

OK, while we’re waiting for the newest episode, let me share something found on Reddit.  And for those who don’t go there here is a funny take on the love triangles so far.

macdelta_lovechart

Let me note that I did not do this, and credit goes to the guy who did this.  I’m just sharing here!  🙂

As for me I’m on Team Mirage, but Freyja is also not as annoying as Ranka was in Macross Frontier (I was on Team Sheryl).  I think wherever the triangle goes I’m OK with it, but I do prefer Hayate x Mirage.  The outcome depends on what Macross overlord Shoji Kawamori will do (oh how will he troll us this time???).

Anyway, ever since Macross Delta started most of my thoughts have been about mecha lol.  And it has sort of revived my interest to blog.  Currently I am not watching anything new aside from Macross Delta.  But I might restart on other stuff as I get out of this weird funk I’m in right now.  Ja!

Looking Back: Anime Festival Asia 2012 at Singapore EXPO

OK, so since this year I decided not to go to AFA (for financial reasons–gotta save), I’m in a reminiscing mood.  And since I actually had started writing something about it (but never finished it in 2012 lol), I guess it’s time to post something.  So below is my account of my first-ever trip to the Anime Festival Asia held in Singapore.

——–

Ok, so how do I begin?  This trip had a lot of firsts.  Of course it was my first trip to AFA.  It was my first international trip alone. (Thank God I got through the biggest hurdle of all:  Philippine immigration).  It was also my first time to go to an anime live concert!  Hurray!!

A Macross-themed Christmas

It feels like ages since I last posted.

So what was I up to?  Actually I wrote a post but I haven’t completed it yet.  Things just piled up and here we are, nearing the end of 2012 still not a post about my November adventure hahaha.

So how’s the anime progress?  I have been regularly watching SAO and Uchuu Kyodai.  As for the rest of the other unfinished series, well, it will depend on my mood if I watch them or not.  This means the year-end rankings post could be delayed.  The world hasn’t ended and it can wait.  😛

Anyway back to topic.  So what’s with the Macross-themed Christmas?  Actually since the 2nd half of the year began I had been planning on rewatching something for Christmas (or the whole of December).  I settled on Macross since well, I am a mecha fangirl.  ‘Nuff said.

So I started with the Macross F concert in Budokan.  I almost managed to finish it and then I found a 1080p version.

May'n as Sheryl Nome and Megumi Nakajima as Ranka Lee
May’n as Sheryl Nome and Megumi Nakajima as Ranka Lee

It really feels nostalgic.  (And there is a slight pang in my heart when I remember that I missed it by a year–I was in Japan in 2007.)  When you see May’n now she looks better and dances better.  She sings with more control.  As for Megumi Nakajima unfortunately I haven’t read any news about her lately, so I can’t really comment much about her.

On the 24th and 25th of December I did a marathon of SDF Macross.  As usual I couldn’t finish Phantasm episode.

Better resolution is better :P
Better resolution is better 😛

Earlier in the year I had contemplated about buying the Bluray set but as I have no player I have been waffling between buying a PS3 or a standalone player or having an HTPC.  Of course I ended up buying something else different so the Blurays may have to wait a little while.  There were other priorities but I hope I can have one soon.

As for the final arc of course there is some sadness to it.  It still evokes those feelings even if I’ve watched it before a lot.  In  the final episode it is also Christmas-time, and for Misa and Hikaru it’s a good Christmas because they’re finally together.  It’s unfortunate for Minmay but of course my favorite has always been Misa.  😉

Misa x Hikaru yey!

And I really like that piano version of Goodbye Tenderness.  I hope that someday I can play it on the piano.  Someday.  🙂

Next up?  Well, once I’m finished with the Budokan concert proper and encore, it’ll be the Macross Frontier Choujikuu Super Live cosmic nyaan concert (and with other stuff in between naturally).  Of course I’ll be reserving that for the new year.  😀

50 Questions Answered

It’s been a long time since I responded to ‘current events’ in the anime blogosphere.  What’s ‘in’ now is the 50 questions post.  So to bring back some more life to this blog I’m posting my own answers to the 50 questions.  I’ve slightly changed some of the questions though.

A SAD post

Uhm, just a ‘This blog is still alive’ post, riding on the annual Singles Awareness Day.  I’ve finished checking out what I wanted to from the winter anime season.  I’m planning a post but it might be later this week (or next week).

Right now, what’s keeping me occupied is this:

I like to think it's forever after for Alto x Sheryl

Yup, I’m trying out Ubuntu via VirtualBox.  Still trying to figure out how to do things that were normal fare in Windows, and it eats up some time.  Might take me weeks.  ^_^;

As to why, well, it’s all about the $$$.  A genuine Windows OS installer is expensive, and no, I don’t want to settle for a pirated OS.  I want another choice that doesn’t cost so much.  (That means no Apple products, sorry Apple.)  Another reason is that I want to keep up with what’s going on in open source these days.  As a programmer, who knows, my next job could have me coding on a Linux machine.   😉

Anyway, that’s it for now.  Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!  🙂

Senki Zesshou SymphoWTF?

In the first few minutes I thought ‘Maybe they’re spoofing Macross Frontier??’  And then as the episode progressed, I realized, wow, they’re serious…And when the bugs came out I just forwarded randomly until the ending.

It felt like a copycat right from the start (though I don’t know the motivation for making this series).  I’ve seen more awesome singing, more awesome character designs, more awesome animation from that other show. I don’t want to watch anything that’s been done better before, unless there is a compelling reason to.  And I don’t feel any compelling reason to watch this SymphoWTF.

So yeah, this is the first winter show to be cut from my to-watch list.

P.S.  I totally forgot to post what I want to check out:

Muuretsu Pirates/Bodacious Space Pirates
Rinne no Lagrange
Ano Natsu de Matteru
Gokujyo-
Aquarion Evol
Nisemonogatari
Natsume Yuujin-Chou Shi
Senhime Zesshou Symphogear
Black * Rock Shooter
Another
Danshi Koukousei Nichijou
Recorder to Randoseru
Thermae Romae

Macross F: Sayonara no Tsubasa

At last, the journey that started in 2008 has finally come to its conclusion…

I delayed my viewing of the 2nd Macross Frontier movie  so that I could have something to really look forward to on the 24th of December (aside from the food of course).  I ended up downloading 3 versions (LOL) but I decided to stick to the one with FLAC audio.  Ditched the 1080p version too because my laptop couldn’t play it well.  ^_^;

Since I’ve already tackled comparisons to the Macross DYRL movie in the Itsuwari no Utahime post, I won’t be tackling that much again here.  Why??  Because the most important item in this movie is just this:  WHO WILL ALTO-HIME CHOOSE???!!!

Was this a hint?

[Lists 2011] Fictional schools in anime I would like to attend

I came across this result via ANN about a survey conducted by BIGLOBE regarding fictional schools that people want to attend.  It caught my interest and decided to think up my own list.  Well, that’s assuming I was born Japanese AND my parents had lots of monies to be able to send me to most of my listed schools. (So it looks like my lists project will be continuing this year.)  =D

Still in vacation mode

Yes my mind is still in vacation mode.  I can’t concentrate at work, and all I can muster right now is this update.  What have I been up to?

This picture shows where I’ve been.

Ferris wheel

As for the loot, not much that is anime-related.  The vacation was only 5 days and I totally forgot to research/ask where to get anime goodies.  (Though I’m sure that if I had a bigger budget I wouldn’t have forgotten to do so.)  But I did make my pilgrimage to Kinokuniya.  I wanted to explore the place fully but time was not on my side, so I just asked one of the staff for the book that I wanted.  And good thing they really had Natsuhiko Kyogoku‘s The Summer of the Ubume.  I want to read it right now but the fact that I haven’t even written about The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao makes me hesitate.

How did I find the place?  It was OK, lots of malls and parks/gardens and of course, Kinokuniya/Takashimaya.  I went to the usual tourist spots-the zoo, the safari, the bird park, etc.  The only downside was the weather–most of the time it was hot just like in the Philippines.  I think I lost some weight with all the walking (and sweating), but I bet I’ll gain that all back before November ends.

My other regret is that my schedule (and budget) doesn’t allow me to attend Anime Festival Asia.  Yoshiki Fukuyama and May’n are scheduled to perform.  It would’ve been a new experience for me.  Maybe next time in 2010?  I better save up!  =p

That’s all for now.  Ja!   🙂
