My Top Anime for 2008: Final Version

Happy New Year everyone!  This post was delayed because I was waiting for Mouryou no Hako’s last episode, and while waiting I was not in the mood to write any ‘thoughtful’ description about each anime on my list.  But now it’s finished, so enjoy!

So unlike in 2007, I feel perfectly fine now.  I don’t have headaches.  My room is a mess though, but blame it on the cold weather.  It creates the perfect mood for blogging because you become too lazy to do anything else like cleaning, organizing, washing–the mundane stuff.

Another more important difference from last year though, is the use of the watchlist and the matrix.  Before I had to research again on the shows that aired for that particular year, and it was such a bothersome task.  Clicking search result links like a zombie isn’t a fun way to be spending the last days of the year, right?  Another equally tedious task was how to rank the shows better, which got solved when one boring day at work the gods of anime gifted me with the matrix.  It’s not truly anything groundbreaking for me but it is a great help when sorting out what I think about each series.  Now the only thing left to solve is how the post writes itself lol.  Actually the description for each series is the only remaining problem now, because sometimes I forget what happened with a certain series.  2008 was a busy year for me–I had to study for JLPT 2, plow through my pile of books, try living a healthier lifestyle, think about my career, blah3x and other things in between.  So this could be my new challenge for 2009.  🙂

Now enough with the boring talk, and on with the list!

My 2008 Anime Rankings v2.0

It’s a miracle!  It’s another post!  And the matrix makes a comeback!

Okay, so following the success of the prioritization matrix for ‘divining’ what shows to drop, I decided to try it out on the anime rankings as well.  Guess what?  It works!  I mean, I generate 50% less wrinkles while trying to decide which slot Code Geass 2 should be in, or how to control my mecha love to obtain some sort of objectivity for the top ranking.  Now let’s get to it!

The return to blogging…

…begins with the brief warm-up post.  Anime Progress Report 07-13-2008.

So even though I wasn’t blogging, I still managed to finish 2 shows, namely:

  • Kurenai – not too satisfactory ending for me.  I’ll try to find the time to make a proper review on this one.
  • Shion no Ou – the criminal who killed Shion’s parents gets caught blah3x.  Another probable topic for a post comes but my brain is still reeling from lots of ideas (a lot also not related to anime) that I don’t know if it will ever get posted.  But in short I found the series average, in spite of having enjoyed it in the first half.

I have some good news:  I have only 4 more episodes to go with Mobile Suit Gundam!  Yay!  I’m so happy!!!  😀

The downside is that I still haven’t started on anything yet from the summer anime–not much subs anyway.  But I’ve started on Someday’s Dreamer season 1.  Too slow with the first episode but once I finish other shows I’d probably be able to marathon this.  The only remaining problem would be finding the time, what with all my personal side-projects taking up most of my attention.

I hope to post more in the coming days, so stay tuned!
