It’s been a long time since I responded to ‘current events’ in the anime blogosphere. What’s ‘in’ now is the 50 questions post. So to bring back some more life to this blog I’m posting my own answers to the 50 questions. I’ve slightly changed some of the questions though.
Happy New Year everyone!
This post is very late because, well, I had a awful start to my Christmas vacation–caught a fever and have been feeling sluggish ever since. Haven’t done much and the result is delay in the things I wanted to do. Adding to the delay was my purchase of a new monitor that led to rewatches and viewings galore…
Anyway, I have got to say that 2011’s crop was better as a whole than 2010’s. The top 5 contenders each have the quality to be considered the best show of the year 2011 for me. To illustrate the close fight, the five categories that I used to compare the shows (namely Characters/Entertainment Value/Story-Plot-Ending/Music/Animation) were divided among 4 of the top 6 shows. The 2 shows that didn’t get a first place ranking had 2 second-place rankings each.
My viewing has picked up a bit over 2010’s 14 shows. Maybe because as I said earlier, the quality of the shows for 2011 was actually better than 2010’s. Am I watching more because of this? Hehehe. For 2011 I’m supposed to be ranking 19 shows, but Fate/Zero, Last Exile – Ginyoku no Fam, and Chihayafuru are still far from finished. So I have decided to bump these 3 to 2012, saving me a few moments of deliberation with the 2011 ranking. Hunter x Hunter is also unfinished, and I doubt if I really can complete it. With these unfinished shows the ranking process would’ve been tougher. 🙂
I have also decided to exclude movies except for Break Blade. If I did not, well, Sayonara no Tsubasa would have been this list’s best anime–blowing away the competition hahaha…
Again better late than never.
I may not be blogging that much, but I am watching anime, a lot of it now, in fact. As I am still new at work, I don’t have a lot of responsibilities yet so I’m not that busy at the moment. For the past few months I have divided my time between anime, books, Internet, and other stuff I didn’t get to do like shopping left and right (obviously getting paid means spending power hehehe). Of course I don’t spend everything because it’s important also that I replenish my savings that got depleted when I resigned without a new job.
Now enough of that RL talk. Since I wasn’t able to do the Spring impressions, I’m combining it with a post about the Summer anime season.
I said I would not do this list. However, I made an about-face (for reasons I cannot say). Unlike last year, my room is not such a mess today. The weather’s still fine though.
Another thing for this year, I’ll be including shows that I haven’t finished yet but where I’m halfway through (or are ongoing shows). The shows are Aoi Bungaku, Bakemonogatari, Cross Game, Kimi ni Todoke, Sasameki Koto. I cannot include Kara no Kyoukai because I’m only into ep 2 and the show is still an unknown for me. Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood doesn’t count also because I stopped watching and am saving everything for a later date. Fairy Tail is probably gonna go on forever, and I’m still undecided on it overall.

I’m currently on controlled eating right now, unlike last year where I ate whatever I wanted during Christmas vacation. Must be the reason why this year’s favorites picks are so few.
The slow anime progress crawls on…
Happy New Year everyone! This post was delayed because I was waiting for Mouryou no Hako’s last episode, and while waiting I was not in the mood to write any ‘thoughtful’ description about each anime on my list. But now it’s finished, so enjoy!
So unlike in 2007, I feel perfectly fine now. I don’t have headaches. My room is a mess though, but blame it on the cold weather. It creates the perfect mood for blogging because you become too lazy to do anything else like cleaning, organizing, washing–the mundane stuff.
Another more important difference from last year though, is the use of the watchlist and the matrix. Before I had to research again on the shows that aired for that particular year, and it was such a bothersome task. Clicking search result links like a zombie isn’t a fun way to be spending the last days of the year, right? Another equally tedious task was how to rank the shows better, which got solved when one boring day at work the gods of anime gifted me with the matrix. It’s not truly anything groundbreaking for me but it is a great help when sorting out what I think about each series. Now the only thing left to solve is how the post writes itself lol. Actually the description for each series is the only remaining problem now, because sometimes I forget what happened with a certain series. 2008 was a busy year for me–I had to study for JLPT 2, plow through my pile of books, try living a healthier lifestyle, think about my career, blah3x and other things in between. So this could be my new challenge for 2009. 🙂
Now enough with the boring talk, and on with the list!
